My first successful omelette!
Jul. 12th, 2008 11:02 amFor years I've tried making omelettes*, but they've always turned into scrambled eggs. Four years ago I had a case of salmonella so I stopped cooking eggs altogether (until then I had them fairly frequently on weekends). I've since started cooking them again, but only once every few months or so. I bought a six-pack of eggs this week so I thought I'd try them again using some advice on omelettes I found online. It said to cook it on low heat and once the egg started to harden to swish it around the edge of the pan. I've tried this before but today was the only day it worked so far. It wasn't even an ideal situation for an omelette. The only cheese I had available was a three-cheese grated variety (parmesan, asiago, and romano). So I filled it with some milk, salt, pepper, broccoli, and carrots. After taking the above picture I sprinkled on some garlic powder and made some toast with butter and grape jelly and some orange juice.
* LJ doesn't like my spelling of omelette. I think they want it spelled omelet, but that doesn't look right. Wikipedia agrees with me but cites LJ's preference as an alternative. I may be a pretentious anglophile git, but there are some words that just look more correct in British English or French. Grey for example looks like its color. Gray looks like a puddle of lukewarm grey that's been watered down. I also prefer to spell theatre as it appears in London's West End and words like dialogue and catalogue should be spelled with the "ue" a the end. Otherwise any related dialogue should be thrown out of the catalogue.
